FIRE-ADAPT webinar on rewilding and fire management trade-offs

The FIRE-ADAPT monthly webinar series continues to foster knowledge exchange across the consortium and beyond. The recording of our April session is now available online, featuring Gian Luca Spadoni, Early Career Researcher (ECR) at the University of Turin.

In his presentation, “Modelling carbon balance trajectories under contrasting rewilding and fire management scenarios”, Gian Luca Spadoni explored how rewilding can contribute to enhancing biodiversity, carbon stocks, and other ecosystem services. The talk also addressed how vegetation growth associated with rewilding may increase fire risk, highlighting the importance of fire-smart management approaches to balance these trade-offs effectively.

The session provided valuable insights into the links between landscape management, ecosystem restoration, carbon dynamics, and wildfire risk in the context of changing environmental conditions.
